Advanced measurement techniques give Sharp's Distance Measuring Sensors concrete reliability. Unlike conventional sensors, they do not depend on color; this gives them higher precision, at the same time requiring less engineering than a discrete solution. Utilizing a focused beam, they indicate where an object is, or whether the object is there; in ranges from 4 cm to 150 cm.

Typical applications: Sanitary market (electronic faucets, flush levers, soap and paper towel dispensers), Gaming and PC peripherals, Robotics, and Security.
