Description

Comprehensive GCxGC System is a powerful practice to obtain two dimensional chromatography data acquirement capability. The Shimadzus Comprehensive GC-MS (GCxGC-MS) system is perfect for a variety of applications, such as analysis of complex matrices, including natural products that are hard to analyze by the conventional method of GV or GC-MS. The group analysis is based on the dual dimensional chromatography patterns. The top examples of its application are food, flavor, fragrance, environment and petrochemical, etc. Now the question arises about GCxGC, it is a chromatography that requires two orthogonal GC columns linked in the series with the help of modulator. Waste matter from the first column is ensnared in the modulator for a given period of modulation time, before being focused and released into the subsequent column. The chromatogram is accessible through repeated trapping and injection is rendered in two dimensions with the help of specialized software, in the first and second dimensions on particular axes. GCxGC provides image patterns that can be correlated to compound structure; this capability is especially useful for grouping analysis of mixtures containing many components. Peaks with similar boiling points that could not be separated adequately by one-dimensional chromatography can now be separated based on differences in polarity. This allows analysis of components that previously were difficult to separate in samples with complex matrices.
