MotorNet System ®
SMI
For the automation and control of all packaging machines, SMI has developed a PC-based system called MotorNet System (MNS)®, based on SERCOS interface™ or CAN Open interface™ fieldbus and a communication backbone network in fibre optic.
The MNS® consists of the following devices:
- MARTS: industrial PC controlling the machine process, programmable through the IEC61131 languages like a standard PLC;
- POSYC: industrial PC running as the HMI (Human-Machine Interface), equipped with touch-screen colour LCD, which interacting with the MARTS allows the operator to carry out a wide range of operations, such as: setting out of the working parameters, selection of the format to be packed, check of the production data and analysis of possible alarms;
- aGate and dGate: programmable analogue and digital multiport I/O devices, with 0-24 V output, capable of piloting the direct current motors employed for the automatic adjustments in the format change;
- COSMOS: programmable digital servodrivers for "bushless" motors.
All components of the MotorNet System® are CE and UL/CSA certified.
