As a Universal PCI card, PBpro PCI is compatible with both the 5 V signal levels of traditional Professional pcs and the 3.3 V signals used primarily in modern server PCs. The small form factor of the one-channel card means it can also be used in compact "low-profile" systems.
The one-channel PBpro PC/104plus card is particularly suited to use in compact industrial computer systems in the PC/104 format. In keeping with the development of this standard, the card uses Universal PCI as the interface to the CPU board. The card also has an ISA interface which is passively passed on to the many peripheral cards which still require it.
All of the cards mentioned work as a PROFIBUS master or slave and support DP-V0, DP-V1 and DP-V2. Furthermore, any number of other PROFIBUS applications can be realized through an FDL interface. The package includes drivers for Windows XP and 2000. Other operating system drivers are currently in preparation.
Connections to the application can be established directly through the application programming interface (API), which is compatible with the other PROFIBUS cards from Softing; the programming examples that are included make integration easy. Additional professional software products are also offered which enable connections to visualizations (via the PROFIBUS OPC server).
