In fire protection there is no room for shortfalls in the processes, procedures or attitudes affecting maintenance and the ability of a system to do its job as needed. In theory, a system which is tested and approved to stringent standards, runs for only half an hour each week and is regularly maintained - would not be an obvious candidate to need remote monitoring. However, it would be wrong to believe that vigilant monitoring is not required. There is a need keep an eye on the fire pump at all times, not only when periodically tested
