The various tooth forms of the knurling cutters are fabricated on the basis of our specially developed process. The advantage of QUICK knurl cutters lies in their special tooth geometry. The result is the high surface quality of the workpiece and maximization of the service life of the tool at the same time.
QUICK knurl cutters are made of PM steels. The atomization of the liquid steel and the subsequent HIP process (hot isostatic pressing) gives the steel an even more homogeneous structure. Carbide cells, as known from tool steels produced in smelting processes, are absent.
QUICK knurl cutters of PM steel are available in two versions:
Ground tooth flanks
With these knurl cutters the tooth geometry is ground in the tempered blank wheel. The uniform material structur is preserved inspite of the treatment, and so the life time of the cutters can be increased. This standard tool now allows the production of highly demanding knurls and covers the majority of costums needs.
Ground and coated tooth flanks
Additionally, these knurl cutters are given a special coating (Quick-Dur). This PVD coating with a micro-hardness of 3300 HV 0.01-permits decorative, high quality knurled surfaces and good machining of high-strength materials.
