The Taber Rotary Platform Abraser [Taber Abrader] performs accelerated wear testing on most flat materials. Referenced in numerous international test procedures, the Taber Abraser is recognized as the standard instrument to test abrasion resistance for plastics, coatings, laminates, leather, paper, ceramics, carpeting, safety glazing, metals, textiles, and many others. Samples are mounted on a rotating turntable and subjected to the wearing action of two standardized abrasive wheels applied at a specific pressure. The rotary rub-wear action (sliding rotation) of the abrasive wheels wears the specimen at all angles and abrades a unique circular band approximately 30 cm^2. An integrated vacuum system removes loose debris during testing. A full line of accessories including Genuine Taber abrading wheels and specimen holders are available to accommodate both flexible and rigid specimens.
