UNIFLEX Protect Seal Cable Gland ensures compliance with DIN VDE 0619. For insertion of flexible cables, DIN VDE 0619 requires the following for the connections :
- flexure limitation
- strain relief
- shear relief
- rotation relief
- protection of outer sheath
With the conventional flexure protection, a trumpet-shaped grommet prevents excessive flexure of the cable. The maximum opening of the grommet may be half the size of the cable diameter (r = 0,5 x d).
Many electrical faults occur as a result of :
- Insufficient bending radius - the cables snap off
- Installation of incorrect cable entries
- Mechanical overload
- The cable sheath hardens as a result of UV light or corrosive media
The solution
With the UNI Flex Protect System, a long cylindrical grommet prevents the cable hardening and snapping off. A conical cable entry keeps external influences, such as UV radiation and corrosive media away from the cable section at risk. The cone can be expanded or shortened to suit the cable diameter.
The advantages of the Flex Protect grommet :
- no kinking of the cable
- protects the cable section at risk from external influences
- it determines the bending radius
- can be shortened to suit different cable diameters
