For example, the torque to drive a pump at a constant speed can be measured as the static torque necessary to hold the pump or the motor from rotating.
The reaction torque approach is often less costly and because reaction torque sensors have no moving parts, requires no maintenance. Reaction torque sensors are recommended in lieu of rotary torque sensors when steady-state measurements are acceptable.
