The fire blankets are made of fire retardant glass fibre fabric and, together with portable fire extinguishers and hydrants, form an essential part of the fire-fighting equipment used in small domestic fires, as they suffocate flames and incipient fires. If a fire breaks out, the blanket is used to smother and extinguish it by quickly starving it of oxygen. The blankets are all packed in a convenient soft or hard bag.
