Para Aramid Sewing ThreadSpun para-aramid sewing thread is the thread of choice for high stress, volatile applications requiring extreme strength and heat protection.Superior in strength to other threads, and five times stronger than steel by weight. Exposure to UV rays will result in some loss of strength over time.Aramid sewing thread is used extensively in the manufacture of protective clothing due to its resistance to chemicals and heat.Aramid thread has the highest specific strength of any commercially available fibre and, should an article be reinforced with aramid, it does not break instantly but progressively, providing a non-catastrophic failure mode allowing a margin of safety. It does not melt, or support combustion, but will oxidize at 400-430ºC. However, at temperatures as low as 196ºC aramid shows no loss of strength.Para-aramid thread is an excellent resistor to chemicals and is unaffected by exposure to solvents, fuels, lubricants and salt water.Rated to 250°C.
