Fastening specialist TFC has produced a bespoke component for a unique under-floor heating application.
The company was tasked with designing and supplying a clip that would secure central heating pipes to the polystyrene foam insulation under a wood laminate floor. The clip is necessary to act as a guide to the pipes, improving the overall efficacy of the under-floor heating. The situation presented a challenge as the clip had to be secured into low-density foam. Furthermore, the existing clips used were of various sizes and, as a result, were not compatible with all of the applicator tools.
TFC was approached to provide a lightweight universal clip that would be able to secure the central heating pipes, and that could be employed across all applicator tools. Based on this specification, the company designed a bespoke plastic 'U-shaped' clip with 'feathers' to hook into the polystyrene foam. TFC also supplied the bespoke clip in batches of thirty so that they could be fed directly into the applicator tool, providing a cost and time saving solution.
