The USB 2.0 interface is a key factor for the simplification of machine vision applications. Therefore, The Imaging Source USB cameras are available with a wide range of image sensors:
The resolution of the CCD sensors ranges from 640x480 to 1280x960 pixels. All CCD cameras deploy highly sensitive and low noise sensors, which are based on a global shutter.
The CMOS sensors that are integrated in The Imaging Source USB cameras offer resolutions from 744x480 to 2048x1536 pixels. The main advantage of the CMOS sensors is their low price and minimal power consumption. The 744x480 sensor uses a global shutter, while all other sensors are based on a rolling shutter.
As with other industrial cameras, The Imaging Source USB cameras are optionally available with digital I/Os and trigger input. In trigger mode, the cameras capture an image as a result of an external pulse. Such a pulse is usually generated by an event of an industrial process.
