This motorized fast-change filter wheel has been designed for applications that require sequential observations with different filters inserted in the optical path, such as multi-wavelength fluorescence imaging. The mechanical interfacing of the wheel accepts SM1 lens tubes and 30mm cage systems for both input and output ports of the filter wheel housing. The housing contains a #8-32 (M4) tapped hole to allow post mounting of the wheel. Up to 6 Ø1.0" (25mm) filters mounted in the standard housing (e.g. as per Thorlabs' FEL series) can be fitted onto the wheel. Access for the fitting of filters can be gained through a removable cover without needing to unmount the filter wheel from the optomechanical setup within which it sits.
Choice of electronic controller for the FW103 depends on the required speed of operation. The FW103H incorporates the FW103 with our BSC101, Single-Channel apttm Controller for applications requiring high-speed switching (55 ms) between adjacent filters. For slower speed filter switching (250 ms), Thorlabs offers the FW103S, which combines the FW103 with our TST001 T-Cube Stepper Motor Controller. The TST001 controller offers two supply options (each sold separately): TPS001 when using a single TST001 T-Cube; or TPS008 to power up to eight T-Cubes. If the TST will be used with TCH002 T-Cube Controller Hub, no other source is required. These options provide the ability to fine-tune filter wheel acceleration and speed for optimum performance
