Ultrasonic flow meter / for liquids / in-line
The new flow-tube configuration consists of a stainless steel axial tube. The PZT 5A transducers vibrate in the radial mode(wherein the inner and outer diameters may be chosen to generate the required frequency) generates ultrasound.
The transducers generated waves propagate through the liquid as plane wave & attenuating non plane wave(which is symmetric about the transducer's central plane). Use of weight function approach on the ultrasonic flow-meters(when the wave interacts with axi -symmetric velocity profile), there is no contribution to transit time difference.
The averaging of the velocity profile irrespective of the flow profile is facilitated by the plane wave propagating down the flow-tube. This results in no sensitivity change because the flow profile shifts to turbulent from laminar.
