Tenax® is the classic high-performance carbon fiber yarn. Since the early eighties, the HTA type has been gaining reputation in numerous applications in aerospace and leisure industries. This high tenacity (HT) fiber provides excellently balanced mechanical laminate properties in tension and compression. Therefore, the Tenax® HTA carbon fiber was one of the first carbon fiber types used on commercial aircraft, such as the horizontal and the vertical tail plane, flooring, rudder and valves as well as aircraft engine cowlings, helicopters and latest gliders. The Tenax® HTS type is an improved HT type with increased mechanical properties and filament counts (12K and 24K) produced on the new Toho Tenax Europe manufacturing line and providing similar characteristics as the well introduced HTA type. It has been released for many aerospace components.
