Kevlar® had its first commercial production by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company in 1974 and is currently manufactured and marketed in Japan by Du Pont-Toray Co., Ltd. Kevlar® features not only excellent strength and high modulus, but also outstanding resistance to impact and heat. These characteristics allow the material to be used in a broad range of applications such as tires, rubber materials, fiber-optic cable tension members, protective apparel, friction material, construction reinforcement, printed circuits, composite materials and other areas.
