The compact Maxchanger unit transfers heat in much the same way as the gasketed plate and frame heat exchanger, but does so without gaskets. This ensures greater compactness than a gasketed plate exchanger, and requires only 30-50% of space required for a shell and tube heat exchanger.
Extremely high "U" values and low pressure drops are a result of the unique geometry of its interspaces. The specially embossed dimples on each plate provide maximum pressure-resistant heat transfer contact points. This design allows the Maxchanger to be capable of running under high temperature/ high pressure applications.
Specially dimpled plates are rotated and welded completely together between end plates, and in alternate channels at the inlet / outlet ends and connections. This thoroughly seals the entire unit to prevent leaking or cross-contamination of hot and cold media.
Counter-current flow of fluids is achieved in all Maxchanger designs, providing a close temperature approach capability of less than 1C.
Channels formed between the welded plates and end connections direct the two heat transfer media counter-currently through alternate paths for immediate thermal response and maximum efficiency.
