Earth Fault Detection Device EFD20
The earth fault detection device developed by Trench Austria differs fundamentally from existing, traditional earth fault relay concepts.
The most outstanding features of the EFD20 device are it's high measuring accuracy and it's high selectivity and reliability such that also high resistance faults (up to a few ten thousand Ohm) and restriking (intermittent) faults can be detected. Conventional earth fault protection relays are not able to attain these results by far.
The earth fault detection device EFD20 is based on a central acquisition and processing of the measurement signals as well as on the "Admittance method" patented by Trench Austria.
