GPS surveying system

Construction grade control and site positioning systems utilizing GPS can use a conventional base station such as the Trimble MS750 set up within about 20 km (13 miles). A single base station can be used by any number of grade control or GPS site positioning systems at one time.

The base station is typically installed at a fixed or semi-permanent location, such as the roof of the site office. It consists of a GPS receiver, GPS antenna, radio and radio antenna.

The Trimble® MS750TM GPS receiver is designed specifically for the tough mining and construction site environment. This ruggedized, dual-frequency RTK receiver outputs corrections with the shortest delay (lowest latency). The modular design, where the radio, radio antenna, GPS receiver, and GPS antenna are separate, provides the customer with many benefits. The GPS antenna can be mounted where the GPS signal is clearest, and the radio antenna can be mounted high, giving the customer broader area coverage with their radio. It also gives the customer security, in that only their antennas are left outside the site trailer, vehicle, or vessel. The expensive GPS receiver and radio are left locked up inside. The MS750 receiver has a front panel display and keyboard, making it easy to configure and start each day, without the need for a specialist controller or software.

The Trimble Zephyr Geodetic dual frequency GPS antenna has a permanent ground plane and has "stealth" technology to reduce the reception of multiple reflected signals (multipath).

The data radio sends GPS information from the base station to the GPS receiver being used as part of a grade control system or site positioning system.
