Power management controller

A Power Controller is used to monitor and control the power supplies found in today's communication, networking and storage equipment. Power supplies provide power to all of the components in a system and in today's designs they have to do this to very tight specifications. These specifications include control of multiple energy current and voltage levels during startup & shutdown so that parts are powered on and off in the correct power sequence, and then monitoring during operation for handling of transients, relative voltage levels, and fault conditions. Specifications like ATCA provide a single voltage from the backplane which can then require multiple DC-DC converters on each ATCA card. Tundra's Power Controllers are able to control and monitor multiple DC-DC converters. For instance, just one Tundra Tsi257 can control up to 6 different power rails. Connect or cascade three Tsi257's together and you have integrated control of up to 18 power supplies. Control over power sequence, voltage level as well as trimming or biasing, in-rush current and communication with a system controller and a non-volatile fault log are all capabilities delivered by the Tundra Power Controllers.
