In many areas a quick analysis of the materials used is necessary. Examples here include sorting beverage cans made of aluminium or tin, or the differentiation of pipes made of different metals which have been manufactured in the same plant. Turck has developed an analogue inductive sensor for this purpose that not only processes the amplitude signal but also the phase signal. Both signals are output as analogue values and can be processed mathematically with the programmable I/O systems BL20 or BL67. The great advantage of this inductive analogue measurement is the distance independent detection of metals.
