Ultrasonic open channel flow-meter

Open channels for rivers and irrigation canals are complex and the only knowledge of the level does not permit the calculation of the flow. The speed measurement is essential.

These flowmeters measure the velocity along several chords (pairs of probes) : 2 chords for the UF 322 RV-S and up to 6 chords for the UF 322 RV. The flowrate is calculated from :
- the integration of the hydraulic profile from these chords,
- the flowrate,
- the geometrical description of the river bank

The number and positioning of the chords depend :
- on the water level in the canal or in the river,
- on the tidal range,
- on the uphill and downhill particularities,
- on the desired accuracy
