Both the AEM and the ASAM type motors have been designed for use in underground mines where methane and explosive coal dust are released during operations. The AEM type motors are fitted with terminal boxes manufactured from cast iron, while the ASAM type motors are manufactured from welded steel with the terminal box making up an integral part of the terminal plate. In addition to this, the terminal plate comes with threaded holes for the pass terminal mounting. These units feature a motor rated duty of S1 continuous duty, characterized by the operation in constant duty at normal parameters, operating a duration the allows the thermal balance to be reached. All motors are manufactured with class F insulating materials, and come with an IP 55 protection class plus a IC0141 cooling function.
