Universal Switching
The user may connect up to sixty (60) individual data or analog inputs, each being up to 25 wires "wide". The word "wide" is used since there are 25 levels or "wires" of switching provided. Another definition is that the unit may be configured as a "60 input x 60 output x 25 pole" switch. Each switching module installed in the system provides a "wire" or pole of switching. The number of I/O modules installed determines the total number of inputs or outputs included in the system. You can start smaller and install additional modules as your requirement changes. The sex or type of the module's I/O connectors are determined by the module number definition.
Due to the extremely high switching density of the system, the unit is designed with solid-state switching elements. This also provides excellent reliability and repeatability. When used for data switching (such as RS-232C), bit-errors are virtually non-existent since the unit passes the data from input to output without processing the data (analog data path) such as the case with Time Multiplexed Switching units.
