Automated tote picking can significantly lower operational costs and improve store-friendly delivery. Totes are not stored in traditional racking, but in automated storage and retrieval systems. Totes are transported automatically to a palletising system and arranged in order to fulfill store requirements. Picking takes place with virtually no manual labour. This type of solution is especially beneficial for fresh food in a retail environment, such as meat, poultry, deli, fruit, vegetables and dairy products. Examples have already been installed at Micarna, Edeka and Hilton Meat.
