The standard unit comprises:
- One or more main pumps driven by electric motors or diesel engines.
- One or more main control panels, for the automatic starting of each individual pump.
- A small electrically driven jockey pump to keep the system under pressure.
To ensure safe operation it is advisable to use a diesel driven pump whose performance is equal to that of the electrically driven pump or pumps so that the water capacity requested is available even when there is a power failure.
