Only an optimally illuminated test specimen can be captured by the image processing system in accurate detail. Many tasks cannot be solved using conventional light sources such as halogen light or fluorescent lamp light. The LED light developed by visicontrol, which is available in both the infrared and visible range of light wavelengths, produces a highly flexible, programmable and optimally variable lighting situation in conjunction with the MVS systems.

Customer-specific experience was used to develop visiLum, an illumination system that is insensitive to external light influence to the greatest possible extent and optimally illuminates stationary and quickly moving test specimens. Combined with an MVS system and a minimum flash time of 15 µs, even the fastest actions can be depicted sharply. Using 256 individual LEDs that are suitably interconnected and arranged, virtually every conceivable illumination variant can be displayed. The MVS-50 regulates brightness and flash duration via control signals. The lamps are available in a large range of choices. Illumination variants for reflected light and transmitted light are likewise available as are lamps with telecentric adapter optics, lamps with different beam angles or special designs that are adapted to the dimensions of test specimens. With a service life of over 100,000 hours the lamps are virtually maintenance-free.
