Litz wires consist of bunched strands. They are used because of their high flexibility and to reduce eddy losses, the so-called skin effect. For high-frequency Litz wires, the strands are enamelled and used to counteract the increase in conductor resistance (impedance) at higher frequencies.

Von Roll produces special Litz wires according to customer designs and specifications. They can be round or rectangular, with or without enamel, and with different types of additional insulation, such as braiding or taping
