Centrifugal pump for hot-water pasteurization process Weir Lewis Pumps
In 1953 Lewis developed the GR/KR pump line, which is the design still in use today for our modern pasteurizer/bottle washer pumps. It was at this time that Lewis began our relationship with the leading brewery equipment manufacturers. The GR/KR pumps were supplied to pump water and caustic solutions for pasteurizers and bottle washers. The product line included size 2, 2½, 3 and 4 inch pumps, wherein the size indicates the nominal discharge diameter. The pumps were offered with a standard mechanical seal for water service or a stuffing box for use in caustic service. Today these pumps are supplied with improvements in sealing technology and the addition of several new sizes to meet the requirements of the pasteurization and bottle washing processes.
