Where there are extreme requirements for running precision and damping, e.g. for fine boring, fine turning or for table mountings, the use of motor spindles with plain bearings is recommended. Thanks to their separating oil film, WEISS motor spindles with plain bearings ensure uniform machining quality over an extremely long period, in addition to maximum precision and extremely long service lives. The truths of running and axial runout precisions attainable are generally less than 1 µm. Particularly with spindles with hydrodynamic bearings, a wider speed range can be covered with the same oil viscosity due to the flexible structure of the hydrodynamic bearings (skids).
