Lightweight steel profile
Welser Profile Austria GmbH
According to the findings of the Max Planck Institute laboratories in Duesseldorf, despite being "old", steel has lost none of its capacity as a multi-functional material that can assume a wealth of functions. Indeed, according to Georg Frommeyer, a leading research scientist at the Max Planck Iron Institute, talk of steel being exhausted as a material in its current form is completely unjustified. In fact, it is assumed that even more can be extracted from this proven material and researchers are already at work on the creation of steels with still higher performance. The first steels of the latest generation will be used in new vehicles in around 2009 and provide weight savings of up to 20%.
