The Model 100 calibration system consists of a uniform
heating plate, controller, and Type K thermocouple that
is used to heat and test metal samples over the
temperature range of ambient to 950°F (510°C).
This system provides a fast and simple offline method
to verify the accuracy of infrared sensors and thermocouple
probes on specific test samples.
It is used to determine the proper TRUSET setting,
SIF (Surface Index Factor) adjustment, and/or emissivity
of a surface by using a thin wire thermocouple embedded
in the test sample.
It is commonly used as a reference source for characterizing
aluminum and other low emissivity materials plus it
can be used as an approximate blackbody reference when
looking at a flat black painted metal surface.
This calibration system eliminates the uncertainty
regarding application errors associated with
surface emissivity.
