Blown film extrusion line with water cooling (quenching)
AQUAREX
WINDMÖLLER & HÖLSCHER
The AQUAREX "upside down wet" blown film line blows film downwards and uses water instead of air to cool the bubble.
The extremely fast cooling keeps the chrystalinity of the film low
while maintaining its amorphous nature. The result is soft film
with high clarity and gloss, and exceptional puncture and tear resistance.
A whole new range of possible applications using classic polyolefin materials is opened up with the AQUAREX. For example, films produced on the AQUAREX are ideal for further processing with an MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) line.
Because of the short cooling distance of the AQUAREX, building and tower height requirements are lower than with blown film lines. In addition, every component that touches water is made of stainless steel.
