The Lupo VSP-25 labeling system was developed for the fully automatic and contact-free identification of heat shield insulations in continuous feed mode. Labeling in one step fulfills two functions. First, the information required for logistics tracking is provided with the 'on-demand' printed label. Second, the functional
label supports the later peel-off function of the insulation's protection film with its strong-bonding adhesive.
Two Woelco printer-dispensers with applicators incl. blow/tamp are the core of this system. Two connected bridge frames made of aluminum
extrusions serve as the machine frame. These rigid and warp-resistant frames permit a labeling accuracy of minimum ± 1mm. Service doors, which ensure good accessibility to the system, are designed out of extrusions with acrylic glass covers. Each printer/applicator unit can be positioned with a manually (push-button) driven linear guide in X direction. Thanks to the two applicators, two different products can be labeled each with one label, or one product can be labeled with two labels. The system can be operated inline as fully automated or hand-loaded as semi-automated with the high production capacity of 40 parts per minute. A Siemens S7-300 PLC with touch panel is used to regulate the variable belt speed and also controls/operates the entire machine. The flexibility of the machine allows for considerable product sizes. This system can label products that are 5 x 2 cm to 120 x 75 cm (2"x1" to 47"x30") with a height between 1 and 100 cm (3/8" to 40").
