ZIRCAR Alumina Cement Type AL-CEM is a single part water based adhesive containing milled alumina fibers combined with fillers plus organic and inorganic binders. Principally used for bonding ZIRCAR® fibrous ceramic products to themselves or to back-up thermal insulations, such as porous firebricks, and fibrous ceramic boards, it also finds application as a coating cement to improve the hardness and oxidation resistance of substrates.

This high purity cement has the consistency of a thick paint and may be applied using a variety of techniques including dipping, with a brush, paint roller or sprayer. Water may be used to return to its original consistency, if it becomes thickened by evaporation. Alumina Cement is non-flammable, is not affected by freezing and is mildly acidic (pH 5).

AL-CEM forms a strong bond upon drying. Curing at 425°C (800 °F) or more will render the bond stable to re-exposure to water or humid conditions.
