Zwick's drop-weight test is used for investigating the tendency for brittle fracturing of steels, for comparative evaluation of crack arrest behavior to ASTM E208, and SEP 1325. The testers comes in 550J and 1650J versions. The unit is equipped with a maximum fall height of 1m or 1.3 m. The drop weight is increased automatically, with stepless drop-height adjustment. In compliance with standard, the prescribed drop energies are acquired by the easy use of weights. Drop energy is instantly computed. The test area is electrically and mechanically secured through a safety circuit. Operation is also done through a touch screen on which drop height, drop energy, drop weight and impact velocity are indicated. In addition, the unit has a drop energy of 340-550 J for the model P550, and 340 - 1650 J for the model P1650.
