How to choose this product

A coaxial cable comprises a conducting wire surrounded by an isolating sheath. Coaxial cables can be recognized through the presence of a metallic tress surrounding the cable, just beneath the final elastomer isolating layer.

Applications

Coaxial cables have applications in weak-signal analog and digital data transmission. These signals are conveyed with minimal electromagnetic disturbance.

Coaxial cables are ideal for the transmission of audio and video signals, and are commonly used for antenna cables, Ethernet connections, telephone networks and underwater cables.

Technologies

Coaxial cables are designed as transmission lines. To protect the signal from exterior disturbances, the cable's core is surrounded by a grounded metallic tress that acts as a Faraday cage.

How to choose

Their low sensitivity to exterior disturbance is the main criterion for choosing coaxial cable.

The signal-to-noise ratio must also be taken into account.

Use over long distances is unfortunately not possible, due to strong attenuation.
