The Balluff sensor hubs come with an I/O-Link. They are easy to install and configure, and allow for the quick connection of 16 standard sensors. Each input is configurable as a normally open or normally closed contact. This is made possible with the use of a parameter set. Flexibility is increased even more since DESINA anti-valent sensors can be coupled up without any problems. A full process image is available via the three-wire cable in 2ms. Per the directives of 2006/42/EC EN 954-1 (category 3), EN 138491 and EN 62061 (SIL2) regarding machinery, the passive safety requirements are fulfilled with the I/O-link, which allows for output switching. Using a single module, two separately switchable circuits can be implemented, since the I/O block is separated into two galvanically-isolated segments. Users can choose between variants with a voltage and current interface, thanks to the analog sensor hub.
