Hägglunds is synonymous with gearless, high-torque solutions that put power right on the driven shaft – and always will be. Now, there’s more than one route to that efficient flexibility. When torque and electricity meet, they come together in Hägglunds Thunder.
The sound of barriers breaking
Hägglunds Thunder is a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous torque motor – a multi-pole electric motor that can deliver high torque at low speed. That makes it the basis for a fully electric Hägglunds direct drive system.
In a the right application environment, it can be even more. Hägglunds Thunder can amplify a direct drive’s strengths and your productivity. When your needs align with its advantages, the impact simply reverberates.
A perfect storm of speed and efficiency
Hägglunds Thunder strikes a different balance, offering highly efficient answers to specific application challenges. It delivers the familiar Hägglunds benefits, but in new ways. Those include fully variable speed from standstill to max, supplied through frequency control.
From a slightly higher nominal operating speed of 30 rpm, the motor range builds to an awesome 300 rpm. At any speed above nominal, the efficiency is nearly constant. Hägglunds Thunder rolls on and on, losing none of its intensity.
A mighty burst of shaft power
With a nominal torque range of up to 200 kNm, Hägglunds Thunder is surpassed in torque by other Hägglunds motors. But its own high torque can be paired with considerably higher speed. When the two intersect at the shaft, it means more power than ever before – up to 4300 kW.
