The rack cabinet is designed for in-feeding a large quantity of optical fiber cables (several dozens or more); for optical fibers splicing and cross-connection, for patch cords arrangement. The rack cabinet can be applicable for fiber optic network switching centres of telecommunication service providers (i.e. digital communication centres, Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX)); cable TV networks; access networks with the ideology “fiber to the home” (i.e. of a micro-district, work station and etc.) (fiber to the x); for passive optical networks (PON), for telecommunication rooms of large business centres and etc.
The application is feasible at concentration of large numbers of optical ports (i.e. no less than 200) in an equipment room. The maximum capacity is 1728 SC ports or 3456 LC ports. The distinctive feature, in comparison with conventional solutions based on standard rack cabinets and 19" racks, is the additional functionality which is applicable to in-feed of optical fiber cables, optical fibers' splicing and cross-connect switching of optical ports by means of patch cords.
Generally, separate zones are allocated in the internal space of the cabinet for fastening multi-fiber cables, for fiber fusion splicing and for both laying out and storage patch cords, which considerably simplifies installation and maintenance (changeover switching) tasks of a large number of optical ports. Moreover, the solution to a high density of optical fibers installation should be modular and allow expanding the capacity as network and in-feed of new cables continue to grow.
