Description

Epiroc COPROD drill strings offer the best of both worlds by combining the high penetration rate and lower fuel consumption of tophammer equipment with the hole quality and straightness of DTH drilling. COPROD is a unique rock drilling system that utilizes a threaded drill tube for rotation and an unthreaded drill rod for transmitting impact energy and feed force. The impact rod is suspended inside the tube, and flushing air passes between the tube and rod to the front of the drill bit. When COPROD sections are joined, the impact rods stand on top of each other inside the drill tube, ensuring direct transmission of impact energy to the rock mass without passing through any threads. This results in superior energy transmission, reduced fuel consumption, and minimized wear on the drill string.

Key Benefits
  • Outstanding hole straightness
  • Less fuel per meter drilled
  • Delivers a lower total cost of ownership

Product Range
  • The Epiroc COPROD product range consists of two surface drill rigs and one underground drill rig.
  • SmartROC C50: The smaller drill rig, available with COPROD 76 mm, 89 mm, and 102 mm drill strings, suitable for blast holes ranging from 90-140 mm in diameter.
  • SmartROC CL: The larger drill rig, can be equipped with COPROD 102 mm, 127 mm, or 140 mm drill strings, allowing for blast holes from 115 mm to 216 mm in diameter.

How It Works
  • The drill tube transmits rotation, while the impact rod inside transmits impact energy and feed force.
  • Flushing air is directed between the tube and rod to the drill bit front.
  • Direct energy transmission to the rock mass reduces wear and fuel consumption.
