NEW CONCEPT FOR MULTI-COMPONENT MOULDING
HIGH OUTPUT - MAXIMAL LAYOUT FLEXIBILITY – MINIMAL SIZE
Boucherie recently introduced a completely new concept in the field of multi-component injection moulding with the delivery of its first "Flexi Cube" mould.
The first mould of this type was delivered for a 3 component handle in 24 cavity layout. This particular mould is a 5 station mould:
STATION 1 - 24 cavities for the injection of the first material
STATION 2 - cooling
STATION 3 - 24 cavities for the injection of the second component
STATION 4 - 24 cavities for the injection of the third component
STATION 5 - outside the mould for product ejection of removal during an active moulding cycle
Although the product features a relatively big wall thickness, an overall cycle time of only 15 seconds was achieved!
The core of this ingenious mould is a stack design with a central stationary cube around which circumference various stations are provided and which are linked by a transport-system that travels around this cube.
For this purpose, a solid track is installed around the cube on which holders with moulded parts are traveling. These holders are moved by means of servomotors allowing the holders to travel over different distances.
As such, the mumber of stations, their individual positions and their function can be selected as needed. this results in maximum mould layout flexibility.
Versions for 4 or more components can be built with or without intermediate cooling stations between injection stations where desired or further with one or more ejection stations or positions where premade structures can be inserted (insert-moulding).
