This model is based on our expanded 2-spindle indexer, but normally has a single suction-blast gun or pressure-blast nozzle directed by a 6-axis robotic nozzle manipulator. The spindles are typically servomotor driven and controlled as a 7th and 8th axis of robotic motion, so the fixtured component may be rotated at adjustable speed or presented to the blast in a specific orientation for complete coverage. The ability to constantly maintain the correct blast angle, offset and surface speed while tracing contours of the component with a single gun results in a more consistent blast process with significant energy (compressed air) savings compared to multiple-nozzle machines.
