The VAS uses the fluidized bed principle to remove undesirable pieces of stem and to cool cut tobacco at the same time. The unique plant allows the tobacco a long dwell time, thus significantly increasing the effectiveness of its separating action. The selective removal of objectionable stems in the VAS separator helps to minimize problems in the cigarette making process such as rod breaks and holes in the cigarette as well as variations in weight, hardness and pressure drop. It can also reduce the likelihood of fireball drop off.
Throughput: up to 6,800 kg/h
Up to 50% of OBJ stem material over 3.15 mm can be separated (depending on blend type)
Gentle separation (main flow is not passed through an airlock)
Easy parameter adjustment to suit different tobacco blends
On-line recovery of good fibres from the exhaust air flow via airlock
Secondary separation to minimize error reject
