High test speed with little mechanical wear and tear are key features of the HRPR test concept, which has been proven in industry for decades and uses no rotating mechanical components. The tubes with typical diameters between 10 mm and 170 mm are conveyed linearly through the test facility. Testing is executed in immersion technology, which means that the part of the tube to be tested is completely immersed in water. The system uses a sealed water chamber and probe cassettes in which the ultrasonic probes encircle the tube. In contrast to inspection systems with rotating probes, this inspection system works virtually wear-free. The cassettes and the corresponding probes are available in different sizes depending on the tube diameter. For longitudinal flaw inspection, the tube is insonificated in both circumferential directions. Optionally, additional probes are used for wall thickness measurement and transverse defect inspection.
