The salt mist test according to DIN EN ISO 9227
In a salt mist test, the samples to be tested are subjected to a sodium chloride mist atmosphere at an elevated temperature. This process simulates the stress on the test items caused by corrosive, oxidizing media in fast motion. Other spray solutions such as acetic acid (AASS) or copper chloride (CASS) can also be used.
You are not familiar with this standard? Here there is further information.
• ISO 9227 NSS/ASS/CASS
• ISO 60068-2-11
• ASTM B 117
Furthermore, the salt spray test mentioned above can be combined with other test methods. This results in alternating corrosion tests with cyclic processes and controlled temperature and humidity. Below you will find an example selection:
• ISO 6270-2 CH/AT/AHT
• ISO 11997-1
• VDA 621-415
• VW PV 1210
• ISO 60068-2-52
• SAE J2334
• Nissan CCT1
• Volvo / Ford
Which system is suitable for my application?
Köhler-VLM explains
The chamber opens through a hood. This allows the test object to be placed into the system from above
• Can be expanded with climate function
• Transparent acrylic hood for easy loading from above
• Changes according to customer requirements on request
