Description

The focus in the new development was on expanding the useful spectral range to greater wavelengths, from 650 nm typical of reflector lamps, to 840 nm, by the use of special light guides up to 950 nm.

This offers advantages for new microscopic measuring methods, e.g., for nano-size particles whose optical resonant frequencies are above 600 nm, or the spectroscopic analysis of forensic samples without exposure to heat.

Unlike AC-powered short-arc lamps, the internal DC supply distinctly reduces the time-based fluctuations of the luminous flux and improves the long-term stability. This makes the new light source ideal for quantitative fluorescence microscopy, confocal measuring methods, camera and other time-critical applications.
