Description

The uncontrolled seeping of solvants or chemical cleaners has led in many cases to the contamination of soil and groundwater in recent decades. The high toxicity and longevity of halogenated hydrocarbon compounds have therefore created an acute need for action. Since the removal and depositing of contaminated material in most cases has proved to be too expensive, it has been increasingly replaced by hydrological and environmental-physical methods. The stripping and adsorption systems provided by Likusta provide a cost-effective way of treating soil and groundwater, which can be tailor-made for individual applications, e.g. through the combination of various proven types of systems. CHC strip systems from Likusta achieve the highest degree of purification in groundwater treatment The Likusta CHC strip systems operate according to the counter-flow principle and are delivered in single or multi-stage designs. The groundwater contaminated with hydrocarbons is sprayed on high-capacity filling elements. This allows an intensive transfer of material takes place by the enlargement of the phase boundary area. At the same time, air is passed in the counter-flow through the filling bodies, which absorb the pollutants from the water. For particularly high demands on the degree of purity of the groundwater, an additional activated carbon absorption stage can be connected downstream of the stripping system. With this method, purification levels of more than 99% can be achieved while at the same time preserving soil structures and edaphon. In this method, vacuum wells are first drained in the contaminated area.
