Electromagnetic crossbelt separators come with a wrap around belt to automatically clean and discharge the magnet. The magnet catches tramp iron using a high gradient magnetic field and then clears the material off of it by use of inertia and gravity as the belt circles the unit.

The core of the magnets uses DT4 electrically pure iron. This allows for a high gradient in the electrical field by way of it having a highly magnetic absorbency and the field is highly saturated from the beginning. This solves the problem of having fluctuating magnetic fields do to temperature and creates consistent results in operation.
